Foot and ankle pain commonly causes discomfort in carrying out common daily activities and can occur at any time in a person’s life. We are the expert in assessing, diagnosing and dealing with these problems.

We focus on the management of conditions that effect the muscles, soft tissues and joints of the foot and lower limb. Our MSK service also specialises in conditions that typically occur in children and young people.

Our aim is to resolve or reduce the impact by helping you to understand and manage your ankle or foot condition.

MSK Podiatry can help with a number of muscular and orthopaedic problems, some examples of these include:

  • Tendonitis/Rupture
  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Ankle instability
  • Flat feet
  • Shin splints
  • Joint pain (Hip, Knee, Lower Back)
  • Foot pain (Heel, Forefoot)
  • Growing conditions

Can anyone use the service?

General Practitioners (GP) or any other recognised Health Care provider can refer you to the service or alternatively, you can self-refer.

What to expect

During your assessment, a series of tests will be carried out including sitting to standing and walking tests. We will look at muscle strength and joint movement. You may require ultrasound, X-ray or MRI scans. The Podiatrist will discuss the treatment options and together you will agree the treatment plan that suits you best which could include;-

  • Advice and education and Home exercise plan
  • Orthoses
  • Injection therapy
  • Soft tissue release exercises
  • Acupuncture
  • Signposting to another services
