Making a Call for Concern

Tell a nurse or doctor on the ward.

Are you still worried about yourself or a loved one?

If you still have concerns after speaking to staff on the ward, then it’s time to make a Call for Concern.

What is Call for Concern?

Call for Concern is a service that supports patients, their families and carers to call for urgent help if they feel their concerns haven’t been addressed by staff on the ward.

How do I access Call for Concern?

Call 01443 443443 and ask for an ‘Adult Call for Concern’ and state the hospital you are in. you will be transferred to the Critical Care Outreach Team. A member of our team will start by asking you some questions over the phone.

They may then visit you or your loved one on the ward to carry out an assessment and review your condition.

The team will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure you receive the best possible care.

Why use Call for Concern?

You know yourself and your loved ones best.

If you feel like your physical condition, or a loved one’s, is getting worse while you’re in hospital, we want you to speak up.

The Call for Concern service allows you to escalate your worries about a person who may be physically deteriorating (when their condition is getting worse). It is there for you if you feel you’re not being listened to on the ward.

Is Call for Concern available everywhere?

At present, the service is only available for patients on in patient adult wards in Prince Charles Hospital, Princess of Wales Hospital and Royal Glamorgan Hospital
