The Integrated Autism Service (IAS) is a specialist, multi-professional service supporting autistic adults, their families and carers, and professionals working with autistic adults across Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend. The team includes;

  • Team Lead
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Speech and Language Therapist
  • Specialist ASD Practitioners
  • Social Worker
  • Community Support Workers
  • Administrator

How We Can Help

Adults who think they may be autistic

Adults aged 18 and over can request a diagnostic assessment for autism (referrals can be accepted from 17 years and 9 months).

Autistic Adults

Autistic adults with a formal diagnosis can access a range of post-diagnostic support options, including:

  • A post-diagnostic course to support understanding of autism, or communication and interaction with others course
  • Initial consultations to explore current needs and identify appropriate support
  • Pre-arranged telephone advice sessions offering guidance and signposting to other services
Families and Carers

Families and carers of autistic adults can access:

  • Support and guidance through a supporter’s course
  • Telephone advice session offering information and advice, or signposting to other services for additional support
Professionals and Services

Professionals working with autistic adults can contact the IAS for:

  • Consultation, advice and guidance
  • Support to better meet the needs of autistic individuals
  • Signposting to relevant services and resources

Support Available

The IAS offers both individual support and structured courses. These include:

  • Post Diagnostic Support (PDS) Course - Supporting autistic adults and their supporters to develop a deeper understanding of autism, including strengths, experiences and support needs
  • Communication and Interacting with Others (CIWO) Course - Supporting autistic adults to explore communication and social interaction in ways that are meaningful to them
  • Initial Consultations - To discuss current needs and identify appropriate support options for adults diagnosied with autism
  • Telephone Advice Sessions - Pre-arranged appointments providing advice and signposting

Who Can Use This Service

The IAS is available to:

  • Adults who would like to request an assessment for autism
  • Autistic adults seeking support
  • Families and carers of autistic adults
  • Professionals working with autistic adult

What We Don’t Provide

The IAS focuses on assessment and short-term support. The service does not provide:

  • Direct work with children
  • Long-term care or care management
  • Treatment for mental health conditions
  • Emergency, crisis, or rapid response support
