Your Occupational Health department is committed to strive to keep you well at work both physically and mentally.  

Evidence suggests that good work has a positive impact on our health and wellbeing  

We will help keep employees healthy and safe whilst in work, and manage any risks in the workplace that are likely to give rise to work-related ill health. 

In summary Occupational Health focuses on how work affects a person’s health and how someone’s health affects their work. 

The Occupational Health Service consist of a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled Specialist Nurses, Doctors, Physiotherapists and a Support Officer working together to provide the following: 

  • Pre-employment initial health screening to provide advice to managers on any support required to undertake the proposed role  
  • To provide recommendations on any support or adaptations in the workplace as required 
  • Provision of relevant immunisations and vaccinations to protect you in your role 
  • Advice on redeployment and rehabilitation 
  • Screening, as appropriate, of Blood Borne Viruses (BBVs)  such as HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis  C 
  • Health evaluation - fitness to work assessments following ill health / injury 
  • Advice to managers and staff regarding disability 
  • Advice on ill-health retirement requests 
  • Physiotherapy assessment and intervention for any employees who are experiencing Musculo-skeletal disorders 

If you are a Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB employee you can access the service via a ‘line manager referral’ or ‘self-referral’ which are housed on the staff intranet site ‘Sharepoint’
