Protected research time awarded to aspiring research leaders in Wales

Four aspiring research leaders in Wales have been awarded protected research time by Health and Care Research Wales.

The funding comes from the 2021 round of the NHS Research Time Awards and has a total lifetime value of £356,789.

Pinewood House being creative during lockdown

For the staff and patients of Pinewood House in Treorchy, a community based mental health rehabilitation service, this was no different. Clinical Scientist achieves national recognition by the Academy of Healthcare Science

Dr Jonathan Arthur, Head of Audiology is now eligible to enter the Higher Specialist Scientist Register (HSSR) at the Academy of Healthcare Science. He is just one of three people in the UK who are able to join the HSSR, and likely to be the first clinical scientist  (audiology) in Wales that has progressed through this route to Consultant Clinical Scientist.
