The role of CTM UHB’s Research and Development (R&D) Team is to facilitate the set‑up, delivery, and quality assurance of research across the Health Board. This includes research delivered in primary care, secondary care, community settings, and population health.
The team provides expert support and advice across the entire research pathway, from the generation of a study idea through to dissemination. CTM UHB’s R&D Team is passionate about ensuring access to research for our population and has an established reputation - both within and beyond the Health Board - for being facilitative, responsive, and efficient in supporting high‑quality research.
The R&D Team are based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Princess of Wales Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital and Keir Hardie University Health Park with R&D set-up and delivery staff available across sites to deliver research to our population.

The Health Research Authority provide a defining research table which describes the key characteristics of research, service evaluation, audit and health surveillance projects in order to assist with deciding how a project should be managed.
There is also a toolkit on the Health Research Authority website which can help you decide whether or not your study is research as defined by the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
Individuals undertaking a service evaluation/service development at CTM UHB can register their project with the R&D Department. The R&D Department can advise on the registration process and provide templates for participant facing documents.
