Welcome to the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board Research and Development Department.

Research is key to finding new and better ways of preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases and other health conditions - helping to save the NHS time and money as well as helping people in Wales live longer lives in good health.

With funding from Health and Care Research Wales and other partners, the Research & Development (R&D) Department supports high-quality research within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

CTM UHB’s Research & Development Team supports the set up and delivery of an extensive range of high quality commercial and non-commercial research studies registered on the UK’s national Clinical Research Portfolio (CRP), maximising opportunities for CTM UHB’s population to participate in research. This enables our population to gain access to new pharmaceuticals, therapies, diagnostics and procedures, with the potential to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

CTM UHB has a very active and varied commercial and non-commercial research portfolio supported by a dedicated research service, including R&D Officers, Research Nurses, Research Officers and Research Assistants, Principal Researcher in Public Health and Research Physiotherapist. The wider Research & Development Team also includes ring-fenced time in Pharmacy (Clinical Trials Pharmacists and Technician), Pathology (Research Clinical Research Scientist), and Additional Pathology and Radiology (Superintendent Radiographer), to ensure essential support services are available for research. CTM UHB researchers are represented across all professions and clinical and non-clinical specialties.
