About the redevelopment

The Prince Charles Hospital redevelopment is a large-scale capital investment programme designed to modernise facilities and infrastructure across the hospital site.

Originally constructed between 1972 and 1975, the hospital is undergoing extensive refurbishment and upgrading to ensure it meets modern healthcare and safety standards and supports the delivery of advanced clinical services.

The redevelopment combines refurbishment, retrofit and new construction within a live hospital environment. This complex programme is being delivered in multiple phases to ensure services continue to operate safely and efficiently throughout the works.

Key elements of the redevelopment include:

  • Construction of new operating theatres
  • Upgraded critical care and clinical departments
  • New outpatient’s department
  • New and improved patient and staff facilities
  • Replacement of ageing mechanical and electrical infrastructure
  • Improvements to access, entrances and car parking
  • Modernisation of clinical environments across multiple departments

These improvements will support better patient flow, modern clinical practices and improved patient outcomes.
