Falls Prevention Week: 21 - 25 September 2026

Don

Anyone can have a fall, but the older people get, the more likely it becomes, especially if they have mobility problems.

If a person is at risk of falls, certain lifestyle changes can help them avoid injuries and boost confidence and independence.

This Falls Prevention Week, CTM’s Don’t Fall for It service will be offering a series of free opportunities across Cwm Taf Morgannwg, designed to help anyone who may be worried about falling, or interested in finding out more for a family member or friend, to come along and get some information.

Here is a below timetable of where our teams will be during the course of the week and how you can meet our falls experts.

In practice...

Earlier on this year, 80-year-old David from the Rhondda referred himself to the service as he was falling daily and relying on his wife to help him get around.

David joined a 12 week Falls Prevention Course and set his goals to reduce his fear of falling and improve his balance to make everyday tasks easier.

During this time, David saw a marked improvement, and even made friends in the class that he looked forward to seeing every week. Read more about his story here.

If you're unable to attend one of the sessions above to speak with our falls experts, but are interested in learning more, please self-refer to the Don’t Fall For It! Service, please call 01443 715013, or email the team on ctm.dontfallforit@wales.nhs.uk.
