Staff across CTM UHB Emergency Departments and two colleagues from Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s Grange Hospital attended a Powered Respirator Protective Suit Train the Trainer course on Thursday 18th November at the Princess of Wales Hospital Bridgend. The course was funded by the Welsh Government’s Emergency Planning Unit and delivered by Gareth Jones of Respirex, who manufactured the protective suits.

The suits are used to protect staff from chemical contamination when decontaminating patients who have been exposed to chemical substances. The Staff will now return to their Emergency Departments and deliver training to their colleagues supported by Andy Francis, CTM UHB Emergency Preparedness Response and Recovery Manager.

Andy said, “Our thanks go to David Goulding and the Emergency Planning Team at Welsh Government for funding four courses across Wales. Jeremy Clare of Princess of Wales Hospital for his support in preparing the equipment for the day. Gareth Jones and especially to the students who fully participated in the days training to make it a great learning experience.”
