Minister Vaughan Gething visits Prince Charles Hospital

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) in partnership with Tilbury Douglas, the main contractor for the programme and Construction Industry Training Board(CITB) were delighted to welcome Vaughan Gething, Minister for the Economy of Wales to the Prince Charles Hospital(PCH) site in Merthyr Tydfil yesterday to see how the £260m refurbishment programme at the Hospital is progressing and to hear from CITB about the first 'open doors' visit from local school Afon Taf.

The group along presented an update on the progression of the programme to date followed by a tour of the site.

Jeremy Holifield, Responsible Officer for the refurbishment programme said: “It's really encouraging to have a visit to Prince Charles Hospital refurbishment programme from the Minister for the Economy of Wales, in conjunction with the Construction Industry Training Board, to witness the good work being done by Tilbury Douglas Construction Ltd in introducing people to the industry. We appreciate his continued interest having commissioned the project when formerly Minister for Health and Social Services."

CITB Engagement Director for Wales, Julia Stevens said: “I've attended the Open Doors visit this afternoon alongside pupils from Afon Taf  High School. The tour of the site was fantastic and really helped the students understand the opportunities that are available in the construction industry. CITB is delighted to support Build UK Open Doors initiative to encourage the next generation of workers to the industry."
