Patients receiving care at the Snowdrop Breast Centre are benefiting from new technology made possible through local charitable donations.
The Pintuition system, funded through CTM NHS Charity's Giving to Pink fund, helps surgeons locate targeted areas of breast tissue during surgery, offering a wire-free alternative to traditional techniques.
For patients, this means a more comfortable experience, while giving the clinical team greater flexibility when planning and delivering care.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Jennifer Long, Consultant Breast Surgeon, explains how the technology works and the difference it’s making for patients at Snowdrop.
The equipment is one example of how donations from local fundraisers are helping to make things better for patients across Cwm Taf Morgannwg.
The Giving to Pink Fund was established through the efforts of Clare Smart and local fundraisers, with a shared ambition to improve the experience of breast cancer patients.
Over the years, community donations have helped create a more welcoming environment at Snowdrop, including artwork and improvements to patient spaces. The introduction of Pintuition builds on that support, showing how local generosity continues to benefit patients receiving breast care.
Abe Sampson, Head of CTM NHS Charity, said: "Many people want to support Snowdrop to give something back after the care they or their loved ones have received.
By funding the Pintuition system, we’ve been able to turn that support into action, helping improve the care and experience of patients undergoing breast surgery.
We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated to help make this possible."
