Health board welcomes appointment of new chair

The Minister for Health and Social Services, Eluned Morgan MS, has today confirmed the appointment of Jonathan Morgan as the new chair of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

Jonathan brings with him a wealth of experience gained from his time as a member of the Senedd and with the public sector. Most recently he has served as chair of the Hendre Group Board and the Hafod Housing Association Board, and as an Independent Member of the board of Health Education and Improvement Wales.

As an assembly member, Jonathan chaired both the Public Accounts Committee and the Health, Wellbeing and Local Government Committee. He also worked extensively with Wales’ directors of social services as head of the Association of Directors of Social Services Cymru business unit.

Paul Mears, Chief Executive of CTMUHB, said:

“We are delighted that Jonathan will be joining us next month. The breadth of his experience within public services will enable our board to respond to the challenges and opportunities ahead of us, as we deliver upon our strategy to build healthier communities with our health, local government and third-sector partners.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing chair, Emrys Elias, for his exceptional leadership of the board since November 2021, and to wish him all the very best for the future.”

Jonathan said: “I am delighted to take on the role as Chair of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board and look forward to working with colleagues across the organisation as we seek to build healthier communities together and to provide quality care for all our residents.”

Jonathan Morgan will commence his role with CTMUHB role on 1 April. He will replace Emrys Elias whose 18-month term as interim chair comes to an end on 31 March.
