The Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership is undertaking a project to better understand how they can meaningfully engage people with dementia and their carers in shaping and improving services and support across Cwm Taf Morgannwg.
As a partnership that brings professionals and communities together to improve health and social care services, this work focuses on understanding people’s experiences of feeling valued, heard, and able to influence decisions. It also explores what makes involvement feel meaningful and worthwhile.
As part of this project, the team is hosting a series of workshops across the region during Dementia Action Week (18-24 May 2026).
Sessions for those living with dementia and / or their carers will be held in the following locations (places are limited so please ensure you register to be involved):
Wednesday 20th May 13:00-15:00 YMa, Pontypridd, CF37 4TS – please register and find further details here.
Thursday 21st May 10:00-12:00 at Town Centre Hub, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8EL – please register and find further details here.
They will also be engaging with people in the Feel Good for Life group in Bridgend on Monday 18th May as an important part of this series of involvement sessions.
If you are unable to attend on the dates above don’t worry, further activities will be planned in the next few months.
With one in three people affected by dementia, Dementia Action Week shines a light on the condition, encouraging greater connection, understanding, and support for people living with dementia and their families.
Throughout the week, organisations across the region will be hosting a range of activities to raise awareness and support those impacted by dementia.
We encourage you to check with your local community groups for details of events and opportunities to get involved. By coming together, we can help create more dementia-friendly communities where everyone feels included, valued and understood.
