A fundraiser has taken on the Manchester Half Marathon in memory of her niece Harlow, raising more than £1,400 so far to support families experiencing baby loss at Princess of Wales Hospital.
Jasmine Williams chose to support the hospital’s Bluebell Suite following the care her family received after Harlow was stillborn at 37 weeks in May 2025.
During an incredibly difficult time for the family, Harlow’s parents, Ellie and Josh, were supported by staff at Princess of Wales Hospital and were able to spend precious time with their daughter in the Bluebell Suite.
The Suite provides a private and more comfortable environment for families experiencing baby loss, giving parents and loved ones space and time together.
Wanting to give something back following the support her family received, Jasmine decided to run Manchester Half Marathon and raise money to help support improvements to the Suite for other families.
Jasmine originally set herself a target of £1,000 but has already raised more than £1,400 – and there’s still time to donate to her fundraiser here.
Speaking about why she chose to fundraise, Jasmine said:
“Harlow was so incredibly loved before we even had the chance to meet her, and what Ellie and Josh went through is something no family should ever have to face.
The Bluebell Suite gave them somewhere private to stay with Harlow, away from the normal maternity environment, and precious time to hold her, read to her, sing to her, take photographs and make memories together.
Those memories can never be replaced. I wanted to do something in Harlow’s memory that could also help other families going through something similar. If the money raised can help make the Suite a little more comfortable and homely for families during such an incredibly difficult time, then every mile of the half marathon was worth it.”
The money raised will support the Bluebell Suite through CTM NHS Charity, helping to fund practical improvements to the environment for families spending time together following the loss of a baby.
Abe Sampson, Head of CTM NHS Charity, said:
“Jasmine’s fundraising is an incredibly thoughtful way to remember Harlow and to give something back following the support her family received.
The Bluebell Suite supports families at an incredibly difficult time. Sometimes small improvements to the environment can make a real difference to a family’s experience and help provide a more comfortable and private space for the time they are able to spend together.
We are hugely grateful to Jasmine and everyone who has supported her. Raising more than £1,400 is a fantastic achievement and will help us make things better for other families using the Bluebell Suite.”
Jasmine’s story is being shared during Baby Loss Awareness Week, a time for families, communities and organisations across the UK to remember those no longer with us and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
