Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board celebrates colleagues with 40 years of service

colleagues who have each given 40 or more years of dedicated service to the NHS

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board recently marked a major milestone, celebrating colleagues who have each given 40 or more years of dedicated service to the NHS.

The special event, held at the Heritage Park Hotel, brought together long‑serving staff from across the organisation for an afternoon of reflection, recognition and celebration. The event was kindly supported by CTM’s NHS Charity, helping to make the occasion a memorable thank‑you to those who have spent decades caring for patients and supporting communities across Cwm Taf Morgannwg.

Among those attending was Peter Vaughan, His Majesty’s Lord‑Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan, who praised the commitment of staff reaching this exceptional milestone. He said:

“Just wanted to say a huge thank you and congratulations to all the members of staff who have achieved this fantastic milestone of 40 years’ service working within our communities and helping people who really need their care. Congratulations to you all indeed.”

The event also featured messages of thanks from senior leaders within the Health Board. Jonathan Morgan, Chair of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, shared a video message highlighting the importance of long‑serving staff to the NHS and the powerful message they send to future generations considering a career in healthcare.

In his message, Jonathan said:

“The NHS is nothing without the staff that we employ — people who’ve dedicated a lifetime of service to our patients and to our communities.

I think it sends a really powerful and exciting message to all those people thinking of a career in the NHS: come and join us. Come and join us to make a difference to people’s lives. Come and join the NHS family that provides such excellent care across the range of services we deliver, especially at times when people are most vulnerable and most in need.

Today’s celebration is a reminder of that dedication”.

The celebration recognised not only length of service, but the extraordinary contribution these colleagues have made to patients, families and communities over four decades — often witnessing significant change within the NHS while continuing to deliver care with professionalism and compassion.
