Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB is deeply saddened to announce the death of our colleague Mark David Simons, who died of COVID at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital last week

Mark, 59, worked for the Health Board as a Health Care Support Worker at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. He leaves behind two sons, Liam and Calum, and his mother Audrey Simons.

CEO Paul Mears said: “We are all deeply saddened by Mark’s death and we would like to offer our condolences to his family, friends and close colleagues.

“Mark was a valued and dedicated member of the CTM team at Royal Glamorgan Hospital and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew and worked with him.

“Mark’s death, naturally, has resonated across our whole Health Board although we are acutely aware of how upsetting this is for those who are Mark’s immediate colleagues. I would like to thank our staff who worked with Mark for their continued commitment and the support they have provided to each other as well as Mark’s family.

“Our thoughts remain with everyone who knew Mark at this difficult time.”

As a tribute to Mark the Health Board will be holding a minute’s silence on Monday, November 23 at 9am.
