Bridgend's new Health and Wellbeing Centre opens

Bridgend

Bridgend Cwm Taf Morgannwg’s new Bridgend Health and Wellbeing Centre opens its doors for the very first time to the community today, Monday 12 October.

New £10.7 million facility brings a range of health and community services together in the heart of Bridgend.

Located on Angel Street, on the site of the former Magistrates’ Court and close to Bridgend Life Centre, the purpose-built facility has been developed to bring a range of health and community services together under one roof, making it easier for patients to access the care and support they need.

The centre will provide modern accommodation and increased capacity for a range of services delivered by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, with opportunities for health and social care professionals to work more closely together.

Services planned for the centre include speech and language therapy, audiology, sexual health clinics, paediatric services, district nurse-led treatment rooms and specialist community dental care for vulnerable patients. Integrated community services will also support adults living with physical disabilities, long-term health conditions and frailty.

The new building is also the home of Bridgend Group Practice, bringing general practice provision into the wider health and wellbeing setting.

The project has been supported by Welsh Government, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership.

The centre is also part of the wider Sunnyside Health and Wellness Village vision, which aims to bring healthcare, housing and community facilities together to support the wellbeing of local people and contribute to the regeneration of Bridgend town centre.

With its modern facilities and multidisciplinary approach, the Bridgend Health and Wellbeing Centre is set to play an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of residents for years to come.

Sarah Bradley, Service Director for Primary Care at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, said:

“The opening of the Bridgend Health and Wellbeing Centre marks an important step forward for local healthcare. By bringing a range of services together in a modern, purpose-built facility, we aim to make it easier for people to access the care and support they need, while enabling our teams to work more closely together to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.”
