Award for Health Disability Activity Partnership

Health Disability Activity Partnership

Earlier the month, the Health Disability Activity Partnership was presented with a NHS Wales Awards by NHS Wales Chief Executive Judith Paget, for its contribution to improving health and wellbeing of disabled people.

The partnership involves seven Welsh health boards and Disability Sport Wales, and signposts disabled people towards sport and physical activity opportunities with the help of the local authority sports development teams.

It aims to increase the number of physically active disabled people across Wales, as well as improve wellbeing by decreasing the need for medical interventions.

Dylan Aslett, Health Disability Activity Practitioner for Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB, was presented with the award alongside six colleagues from the other health boards. He said: “I am grateful for the recognition for this Wales-wide partnership between the NHS, Disability Sport Wales and local authorities.

“I would like to thank all the staff and managers in paediatric physiotherapy who have supported me in promoting and improving the health of individuals with disabilities through increased levels of activity across the health board. Thank you also goes to the local authorities and Disability Sport Wales who have supported me in the role.”
