Mental Health treatment wards (Ward 21 & 22)

What We Do

The aim of the Treatment Wards is to deliver care and support to promote the recovery of people who have undergone an acute episode of Mental Health that has required significant in-patient treatment.

Can anyone use this service?

Anyone between the ages of 18 to 65 years.

Referrals to the treatment ward are coordinated by the Admissions Ward following a period of assessment.  There are no direct admissions to the wards from the community.

What to expect

We offer a caring environment and endeavour to make a patients recovery as smooth as possible with the aim of identifying what that person may need in the form of mental health service support to be able to transition back home.

The treatment wards focus on recovery, supporting individual strengths and responsibilities within the Care and Treatment Planning process (CTP).  Care and Treatment plans will be collaborative and flexible and enable the person to recover from an acute episode of mental health problems.

Patients are empowered to actively participate in all aspects of their care and treatment, maintaining as much responsibility, choice and independence as possible

Treatment options will depend on the needs assessed for each individual patient and will be offered by a range of health professionals including medical, nursing, occupational therapy and psychology staff. All patients will be encouraged to participate in a range of therapeutic activities to aid their recovery and wellbeing.
