Learning Difficulties

The CAMHS LD service in CWMTMUHB covers 3 HB, CWMTM, Swansea Bay and Cardiff and Vale. The service caters to the needs of very vulnerable children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities and most of whom are in special schools. The service consists of a full time consultant and a band 7 nurse. The service is mainly consultation service run via joint clinics with community paediatricians. The service offers assessment and treatment of children and young people with co morbid psychiatric disorders and severe challenging behaviour. The service also deal with emergencies. The service runs also liaison clinics with adult learning disability psychiatrists.
