Our Focus

The Cwm Taf Morgannwg Healthy Weight team has three missions as a part of the of the Creating Health Agenda within CTM2030.

Our missions are:

  1. Reduce Weight Related Stigma sleeping baby
We want to lead a change in the way we talk and think about obesity in CTM, and support all stakeholders to understand their role in supporting babies being born today to grow up to be a healthy weight.

  2. Reshape Our Environment Houses
Work with other stakeholders to take opportunities to design CTM better by shaping our environment so that it supports individuals living and working in CTM to live healthier lives.

  3. Increase Local Capacity To Prevent Obesity Hands in a circle
We will work together across the whole system to do more of the things we believe will reshape our environment by increasing our stakeholder’s access to data, information and evidence on what is most likely to prevent obesity in CTM – so that they can make more effective funding applications and increase prevention capacity across CTM. This will include designing policies and strategies which create the conditions for improved health for future generations, publishing information and guidance on healthy weight interventions that work and supporting stakeholders to reshape our environment so that ‘healthy’ is the easiest and most convenient choice. At the same time we will provide unwavering support for individuals already struggling with obesity who are striving to lead healthy, happy, and prosperous lives.

At the heart of our strategy lies a holistic, whole-system approach, focusing on the enduring, underlying factors driving obesity rather than merely addressing individual behaviours in isolation.

The above will be worked through our areas of focus outlined below:

Building Healthier Environments Together
