What We Do
The Admission Ward offer an intense period of assessment supported by daily multidisciplinary reviews to attempt to resolve issues and transfer to community services for ongoing support.
Whilst treatment or intervention will begin as soon as identified, the ward plays a role in determining the most effective area for on-going care and treatment. Following a period of assessment of up to 10 days, the team will determine if on-going care is better delivered in any of the following areas:
Can anyone use this service?
Anyone over the age of 18 requiring an inpatient assessment can access this service however all referrals for admission are managed by the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHT) who will undertake an assessment of an individual’s mental health needs to establish if an admission is necessary.
Referrals for admission are not accepted directly from individuals, family members or third sector agencies
What to expect
We offer a caring environment and endeavour to make a patients recovery as smooth as possible with the aim of identifying what that person may need in the form of mental health service support to be able for them to transition back home.
We provide holistic assessment alongside a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, pharmacists, nurses.
Your care will be discussed within the team and with yourself on a daily basis and support put in place to address your mental health needs
Each patient will be allocated a Primary Nurse who is responsible for collating further assessment information as it becomes available and for coordinating the delivery of planned treatment/intervention.
Staff encourage the active participation and collaboration of the patient at all stages of the assessment process and where appropriate, involvement of family/carers or significant others.
