Obstetric Units at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil and Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend.

There are two Obstetric-led units, one at Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend and another at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. These units accommodate those who may require additional care or monitoring during their pregnancy or birth. Each unit has a birth pool on the labour ward with the ability to offer waterproof electronic fetal monitoring. Caesarean births are supported on both sites, with dedicated Obstetric theatres. If you are offered induction of labour, this will also take place within an Obstetric led unit. Both units have dedicated anaesthetic staff, and provide epidural for labour / birth. Both Obstetric Units have access to Neonatal care facilities, and have a co-located Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
