Opening later this year, the new Bridgend Health and Wellbeing Centre will bring together a range of healthcare services for people across the whole of Bridgend and the wider area.
To help ensure the new space reflects wellbeing, happiness and community, creative agency Everglow has worked with Year 6 pupils from Penybont Primary School to design and co-develop bespoke artwork for the new centre.
With happiness at its core, the pupils from Penybont Primary School took part in a series of workshops to explore ideas and shape the visual direction of the artwork, before choosing their preferred concept and designing it.
The chosen design, 'The Sun over the Old Bridge', was inspired by the ideas and responses shared by students during the workshops. A recurring theme was the image of the sunrise and sunshine, with many pupils describing the sense of happiness and positivity that sunshine brings. The design also incorporates Bridgend's iconic old stone bridge, celebrating the town's identity and reinforcing its connection to the local community.
The pupils then brought the artwork to life by decorating pre-cut wooden pieces using a variety of colours, patterns and materials. The completed installation will be unveiled at the Bridgend Health and Wellbeing Centre later this year.
