12th March is National No Smoking Day.
Smoking remains a major cause of mortality and ill health in Wales. Over the period 2020-22, an estimated 3,845 deaths per year amongst those aged 35 and over in Wales were due to smoking. This means that on average 10.7% of all deaths in Wales amongst those aged 35 and over in these years were attributable to smoking.
Mark is a CTM resident and started smoking 50 years ago. Through the Help Me Quit Service, he was recently able to stop smoking for good, enjoy walking again to his local shop, carry shopping home, and save around £300 a month.
He shared: “The support I’ve had from Help Me Quit has been absolutely brilliant. So wonderful. I know you’re always there if I am struggling.”
