This week (22nd - 28th June) CTM UHB is marking Armed Forces Week 2025 and Armed Forces Day on Sunday 28th June.
This is an opportunity to celebrate and show support for the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.
Armed Forces Covenant
On 25th March 2024, CTM UHB re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant. This reaffirmed our commitment to supporting our Armed Forces Families within our communities.
For us to deliver the best care to those who have a military background, we need to know if you are a part of the Armed Forces Community (Regular, Reservist, Veteran, Spouse, or child of a serving member).
Please inform a member of staff when you are attending a hospital appointment or your GP surgery, so we can ensure this information is captured and enables us to ensure you are on the correct pathway.
If you would like any further information or support, please contact the PALS teams across the HB:

GP Veteran Friendly Pathway
In May 2023, HEIW launched the GP Veteran Friendly Pathway. This programme enables GP practices to register to become accredited Veteran Friendly Practices.
GP practices can sign up voluntarily to undertake specialist training on veterans' health and wellbeing and promote fair treatment and respect for people who have served, or are currently serving, with the British armed forces.
We would like to encourage as many people as possible to notify their GP that they are part of the Armed Forces family so we as a health board are better able to support and signpost members of the armed forces community to different services available within primary care, secondary care and third sector organisations.
CTM Veterans and Armed Forces Community Event
This Armed Forces week, we are delighted to be partnering with over 40 CTM teams and external organisations to provide a Veterans and Armed Forces community health event on Thursday (26th June).
This special day will honour Veterans, their families and the wider Armed Forces community across CTM, demonstrating our commitment to ensuring they have access to the NHS care and support they need.
Follow our live coverage of the event on our social media channels using the hashtag #CTMForcesHealth and please get involved.
Jenny Oliver, Head of People’s Experience for CTMUHB said: “During Armed Forces Week, we honour the dedication and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community – our service personnel, veterans and their families. As Head of People’s Experience, I am proud of our ongoing commitment to support every member of this community to be able to access the support services they need at Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB.”
