Most importantly we bring together those who want to change and improve so that they can do it together and make it sustainable.

Who do we support?

Working together with our people, patients and partners, to understand areas for quality improvement and develop the capability, capacity, and delivery mechanisms across the whole health system to deliver improved outcomes for our patients, and improved working practices for our people aligned to the principles of Prudent and Value Based Health Care.

How to work with us?

In 2021 the improvement team launched a new platform, ‘Simply Do Ideas’. If you’re a staff member of CTMUHB you can find the platform via our Improvement CTM SharePoint site on the intranet page, where you can submit a Bright Idea. Your idea will be discussed at the monthly project group and you could be in with a chance of winning the ‘Idea of the Month’ and connect with people who may be able to help take your idea forward.

Staff or Teams can submit a Support Request Form if they already have a defined Improvement project in mind. Submissions are reviewed weekly and a member of the QI team will contact them to discuss next steps.

The improvement team also support staff with training such as:

  • Level 1 – An Introduction to Improvement, a 2 hour induction to Quality Improvement giving the basic knowledge, skills and methodology used in QI.
  • Level 2 – Fundamentals of Improvement, a half day workshop which bridges the gap between Level 1 and Level 3 by focusing on tools and measurement.
  • Level 3 – Improvement in Practice, is a separate 1-day workshop delivered to teams who have an existing improvement project/s which they want to start testing.

Who are we?

We have a small core team who work in Improvement on a full-time basis but are supported by a Multi-Disciplinary team (MDT) of Clinicians who are seconded to us for 1 day a week. This MDT consists of the following:

  • Doctor / GP
  • Nurse
  • 5 representatives from Therapies, Diagnostics, Pharmacy and Sciences

We also have an improvement Community of Practice (iCoP) which brings together those who have the same passion for improvement and change from all across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
