On Saturday the 7th of October 2023 the team at WISE (Wellness Improvement Service) had the privilege of attending the Older Person’s Community Engagement Event in Pontypridd. This event was a vibrant and exciting celebration of aging well, organised by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership Board, and we were thrilled to be part of it.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for our team to connect with the local community. We met with a wide range of local organisations, including Veterans Advice Service, RCT Food Bank, Cwm Taf Care and Repair, Dementia Services, Citizens Advice, Age Connect Morgannwg, Men’s Shed, and many others. These organisations are dedicated to supporting and promoting health and wellness.
Our team had the pleasure of introducing our Wellness Improvement Service (WISE), which includes a 13-week workshop supporting self-management and lifestyle medicine encompassing crucial aspects such as Healthy Eating, Physical Movement, Mental well-being, Sleep, Social Connection, and Minimising Harmful Substances.
At WISE, we are passionate about promoting healthy aging and preventing strokes – our WISE Health Check Stroke Prevention program offers an optimised anticoagulation and hypertension service for patients which is designed to address the key risk factors associated with strokes. What sets our program apart is the personalised coaching that ensures individuals receive tailored guidance and motivation on their journey towards stroke prevention.
Events like the Older Person’s Community Engagement Event are vital because they provide a platform for services like WISE to reach out and connect with those who need our support the most, especially in the context of overall Wellness and stroke prevention. It’s not just about promoting services; it’s about building relationships, understanding the unique needs of our community, and working together to improve overall wellness and reduce the risk of stroke.
Together, we can celebrate healthy aging, engage with our community, and create a brighter, healthier future for all.
