Your community pharmacy team is often your first port of call for minor illnesses. They provide a range of services and expert advice and guidance about treating common conditions.
As well as over-the-counter medication, community pharmacies offer the Common Ailments Service, which offers patients a free NHS consultation and, where necessary, access to medication for 27 different conditions. These conditions include:
Acne
Allergic rhinitis
Athlete’s foot
Back pain (lower, acute)
Chickenpox (in children under 14 years of age)
Cold sore advice
Colic (infantile)
Conjunctivitis (bacterial)
Constipation
Diarrhoea advice
Dry eyes
Dry skin (including dermatitis and atopic eczema)
Indigestion
Haemorrhoids
Head lice
Ingrown toenail advice
Mouth ulcers
Nappy rash
Oral thrush
Ringworm
Scabies
Sore throat
Teething
Threadworms
Urinary tract infection (UTI)
Vaginal thrush
Warts and verrucae
