Maternity Visiting Information
Welcome to CTM UHB Maternity
To ensure the safety of both our staff and patients while providing the best possible care, we kindly ask that visitors adhere to the following guidelines.
Antenatal, Postnatal and Induction of Labour
- One nominated birth partner may stay with you from 9am – 10pm each day.
- In addition to your children (siblings of the baby) you are welcome to have up to two adult visitors between 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm.
Birth Partners During Labour
- You can have two nominated birth partners with you during labour, birth and immediately after your birth when your care is being provided in a single birth room.
- In theatre only one nominated birth partner is allowed during the birth.
Settling in period
When you are transferred from the birth centre or labour ward to the postnatal ward, one nominated birth partner may stay with you for up 30 minutes to help you settle in. This can happen at any time of day or night, whilst still respecting the care needs of other patients in the ward.
Recommendations for visiting
We understand that this is an incredibly special time for you and your loved ones, and we are here to support you every step of the way. To ensure that you and your family have a positive experience, and to maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone, we kindly ask that you take a moment to read the following recommendations:
- Security and Access: For your safety, the doors to our maternity wards and birth centres are locked. While we understand that it can be frustrating, please be patient when pressing the buzzer, and we will get to you as soon as possible.
- Respect and Dignity: We are committed to treating you with kindness and respect and we ask for the same consideration for our staff. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of offensive or aggressive behaviour, and anyone using inappropriate language will be asked to leave.
- Infection Prevention: To help ensure a safe environment, we kindly ask that visitors use the chairs provided. When visitors sit or lie on the bed, it can increase the risk of infection to your loved ones.
- Photography: We understand how important these moments are, but for privacy and safety reasons, please limit photos to those of yourselves and your baby in maternity areas and theatres.
- Visiting Hours: To maintain a peaceful and restful environment, we can only facilitate entry to the maternity unit during designated visiting hours, except during labour when your nominated birth partner(s) may join you at any time, day or night.
We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and we look forward to supporting you during this special time.
