This page provides detailed information, and supporting Frequently Asked Questions, on urgent changes being made to hospital stroke services in Cwm Taf Morgannwg week commencing 6 January 2025.
Late October 2024, due to urgent roofing repair works needed at the Princess of Wales hospital in Bridgend, we needed to make urgent changes to our stroke services and move emergency stroke services from the Princess of Wales Hospital into the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
Our health board priority is to ensure patients can continue to access life-saving care and treatment, delivered by a specialist and resilient stroke workforce.
From week commencing 6 January, expert staff and services for those requiring emergency treatment and care for a stroke, will be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital (RGH) at Llantrisant.
Further information is provided in the Frequently Asked Questions below.
