Children's Orthotics Service

Orthotists specialize in using orthoses (splints, supports) for all parts of the body. This may be to correct a deformity, improve function or reduce pain.

Who is the service for?

We see children and young people with a range of conditions including:

  • Neurological conditions, eg Cerebral Palsy

  • Neuromuscular disorders eg Muscular Dystrophy

  • Spina Bifida

  • Orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions

  • Developmental delay

Can anyone use this service?

To have an assessment with the orthotist you will need a referral from your consultant or a health professional such as a physiotherapist or occupational therapist. Orthotists cannot accept referrals from GPs and health visitors.
