Orthotists specialize in using orthoses (splints, supports) for all parts of the body. This may be to correct a deformity, improve function or reduce pain.
We see children and young people with a range of conditions including:
Neurological conditions, eg Cerebral Palsy
Neuromuscular disorders eg Muscular Dystrophy
Spina Bifida
Orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions
Developmental delay
To have an assessment with the orthotist you will need a referral from your consultant or a health professional such as a physiotherapist or occupational therapist. Orthotists cannot accept referrals from GPs and health visitors.
