From today, Monday 17th February, we are delighted to be resuming maternity services at the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend.
The temporary closure of our maternity and neonatal units began in September last year to enable us to carry out essential maintenance work. In addition, a large-scale estates project to replace the roof of the main body of the hospital is also underway.
To make sure we keep all of our women, birthing people and babies safe, we are resuming services through a phased approach
Our neonatal service returned to the hospital last week, Monday 10th February.
While neonatal and maternity services are now operational we want families to be aware that building work is continuing in other parts of the hospital and this may cause some ongoing disruption, including to the way in which services are accessed – you will find more details about this below.
Every effort is being made to minimise the impact on families and their visitors and we will continue to listen to your feedback to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg’s Director of Midwifery Suzanne Hardacre said: “We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming our maternity and neonatal teams back to Princess of Wales Hospital. We fully appreciate that this has been a concerning time for our women and families, and want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our communities for their patience.
“I would also like to thank our fantastic staff for their commitment to delivering first class care during this period.”
