Supporting good liver health in Cwm Taf Morgannwg

World Liver Day 2025

This week, CTMUHB is marking World Liver Day 2025 (Saturday 19 April).

On Thursday 17 April CTM’s Alcohol Care team will be hosting a stand at Princess of Wales Hospital, sharing leaflets and information and giving staff, patients and members of the public the opportunity to learn about liver health, and alcohol related liver damage.

You can meet the Alcohol Care Team on Thursday 17 April at:

  • Princess of Wales Hospital, ground floor outside the pharmacy (10am – 2pm)

Claire Astin, Alcohol Care Team Associate Practitioner said: “We want to use World Liver Day as an opportunity to talk to staff, patients and members of our communities about liver health, and to advise people on the potential damage that can be caused to the liver by drinking over the recommended weekly amount, which is 14 units.”

“Alcohol misuse is a major threat to public health in Wales. It has been identified as a causal factor in more than 200 medical conditions.”

“On the day, there will be opportunities to ask staff questions about safe drinking and advice about units, safe reduction guidelines, signposting for people wanting help with drinking, and warning signs for potential liver health issues. We also want to increase awareness of our team and what we do, both in and out of hospital settings.”
