A newly refurbished courtyard space at Prince Charles Hospital is now open for staff and visitors to enjoy, thanks to a collaboration between Cwm Taf Morgannwg NHS Charity, Tilbury Douglas, and a team of supply chain partners.
The revamped canteen courtyard, which will be called “Our Garden”, has been transformed into a brighter, more welcoming outdoor area where staff can take time out to rest, eat, and recharge during their working day. Now complete with bright paving, comfortable seating, and colourful lighting that brings the space to life in the evening, the courtyard is already making a meaningful difference.
The project was supported by funding from Cwm Taf Morgannwg NHS Charity, as part of its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of NHS staff and patients across the region.
The collaboration was also supported by Tilbury Douglas, as part of the company’s commitment to creating social value within the communities it serves.
It also received generous contributions from partners including Darlow Lloyd, Puma Flooring, Haines Decorating, J&A Construction, and Regimental Cleaning. Travis Perkins in Merthyr Tydfil also provided a donation of paving materials to help bring the space to life.
Cyril Glennon, Project Director, Tilbury Douglas said: “This type of initiative provides the project team with a meaningful opportunity to give something back to the hospital, its staff, and its users - leaving a lasting benefit long after our work on PCH is complete.”
Rob Foley, General Manager, Prince Charles Hospital said: “We’re really proud of Our Garden, and grateful to everyone who helped bring this to life. It’s made a huge difference already, and it means a lot to our staff to see these kinds of improvements being made for their benefit.”
Abe Sampson, Head of Charity, CTM UHB said: “We know how important it is for staff to have calm, comfortable spaces to take a break. This is a great example of how public donations can make a difference, and we’re so pleased that the Cwm Taf Morgannwg NHS Charity can support a space that will be used and appreciated every day.”
