New Visiting Guidance Introduced across CTMUHB Hospital Sites

entrances of hospital sites

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is pleased to introduce its new visiting guidance, which will come into effect from Wednesday 1 April 2026.

From this date, visitors will be welcome to visit patients on wards between 11:00 – 20:00 daily. Each patient may receive up to two visitors per visit, and visits should last no longer than two hours, in order to support patient rest and recovery.  At times there may be restrictions due to Infection prevention measures.

Some speciality areas will continue to have dedicated visiting arrangements that best support the needs of patients and families. These areas include Maternity, Neonatal, Paediatrics, Critical Care Units and Palliative Care Units.

This updated approach provides increased flexibility for families, friends and carers to visit patients while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients.

Recognising how important it is for patients to stay connected with the people who matter most to them, we know that visiting plays an essential part in patients’ wellbeing, comfort and recovery.

The new guidance aims to make visiting more accessible across our sites, whilst also ensuring patients have the opportunity to rest, recover, eat and drink well.

Visits outside these hours may be arranged in special circumstances with the Ward Manager or Nurse in Charge.

As part of the new guidance, we ask visitors to help us maintain a positive environment for patients and staff by:

  • Ensuring good hand hygiene

  • Being mindful of protected mealtimes

  • Respecting privacy and confidentiality

  • Not taking photos or videos within clinical areas

  • Being courteous to staff, patients and other visitors
