New Director of Midwifery Appointed

Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) UHB has appointed Suzanne Hardacre as its new Director of Midwifery, Gynaecology and Integrated Sexual Health.

Suzanne joins CTM from Cardiff and Vale UHB where she has been Head of Midwifery and Gynaecology Nursing since 2015.

Speaking about her appointment Suzanne said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Director of Midwifery, Gynaecology and Integrated Sexual Health and I feel incredibly privileged to be joining Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board at such a pivotal time. Despite the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-10 pandemic, I have been impressed at the enthusiasm and passion demonstrated by the team and their drive to make maternity services the safest in the UK.”

Having started her career on the CTM patch as a registered nurse at East Glamorgan General Hospital in 1995, Suzanne went on to complete her midwifery education at University of Wales College of Medicine in 1998.

She has held senior midwifery positions in clinical practice and senior management, and her experience includes key strategic and national roles in developing the All Wales Pathway for Routine Enquiry into Domestic Abuse, Clinical Supervision for Midwives in Wales and the All Wales Vision for Maternity Services in Wales (2019-2024).

Suzanne is passionate about the public health role of the midwife and providing women and families with the best start in life. She is currently completing a doctorate where her research explores women’s experience of vaccination in pregnancy.

CTM’s Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery Greg Dix commented: “Suzanne’s experience makes her a great asset to the team here at CTM. Our Maternity Services is well underway on its improvement journey and I know that Suzanne will continue to drive this work to ensure that we offer a first-class service for our communities.”
