New bereavement room opens at Prince Charles Hospital

A brand new bereavement/family room has opened, close to the Children’s Ward at Prince Charles Hospital, thanks to funding from bereavement charity 2Wish.

The room will be used by parents and families who have been devastated by the loss of a child, or by families receiving difficult news.

Paediatric Ward Manager Emma Probert said: “This room is so important for families who need privacy at the most tragic of times and where sitting in a room with others is not appropriate and sensitive. This fantastic new room is located away from the clinical ward environment, giving families the peace that they need.”

Rhian Mannings MBE, founder of 2Wish said: “Families facing difficult times need to be able to sit together in non-clinical surroundings with access to the loved one that has passed away. By working together with our donors and supporters, staff at Prince Charles Hospital and families, we have created a place that we know will help so many.”
