Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board Chair, Emrys Elias, has welcomed the appointment of new Independent Board Member Lynda Thomas, by the Minister for Health and Social Services.
Lynda joins the Board of Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB for a four-year term, having worked in the healthcare sector for more than two decades.
Appointed Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support in March 2015, Lynda joined Macmillan in 2001, heading up the communications and fundraising departments.
Commending her appointment Emrys Elias said: “I am delighted to welcome Lynda as an Independent Member of our Health Board. Her skill set and knowledge of the healthcare sector makes her a valuable addition to our team on the Board.
“I look forward to working with Lynda during a challenging time for the sector, and I know her experience will be a hugely beneficial to both CTM and the communities we serve.”
Lynda is dedicated to creating an environment where colleagues, professionals and volunteers are empowered and supported to do all they can to help people with cancer. She is also passionate about equity, diversity, inclusion, and doing everything she can to tackle the health inequalities that exist.
“I’m delighted to be appointed to the role of Independent Member of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and look forward to playing my part in supporting its vital work,” said Lynda.
“I hope that the combination of my skills as a health system leader and my knowledge of, and passion for the population of this Health Board will enable to me contribute in a meaningful and lasting way. I‘m committed to doing everything I can to make a real difference for the people working within the Health Board and – most importantly – those using its services.”
Lynda feels strongly about ensuring that people with cancer have access to support which is right for them so they can live life as fully as they can.
