Ahead of the new academic year, eligible young people in Wales are being offered a free vaccination against meningococcal B disease (MenB), as part of a time-limited programme introduced in response to recent outbreaks across the UK.

The vaccine will be offered in a two-dose programme. Young people aged 17 and 18 will receive an invitation letter from us, inviting them to attend for their first dose of the vaccine between 21 and 31 July 2026.The vaccinations will be administered at one of our six Community Vaccination Centres, and young people will be invited to attend at a designated appointment time. It is very important that you attend your vaccination appointment or let us know if you are unable to make it so we can reschedule you to another time.

For those young people turning 25 on or after 21/07/2026who will be entering Undergraduate higher education or residential further education for the first time this autumn, including international students, from 1 August to17 August 2026, walk-in vaccination appointments will be available.
From this date, you will be able to walk-in for your vaccination at one of our six Community Vaccination Centres to receive your first dose of your MenB vaccine before the academic year starts in September.
When you attend, please bring your university or college offer letter and some identification so we can administer the vaccine. The official offer letter from your chosen university/college can be an email/screenshot from your university or Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
