CTM UHB sees multiple successes at Welsh Pharmacy Awards 2024

Cwm Taf Moragannwg UHB and its independent community pharmacy contractors scooped a number of awards at the Welsh Pharmacy Awards 2024.

The Welsh Pharmacy Awards, held in September aim to recognise and celebrate the dedication and extraordinary work of pharmacists from diverse disciplines.

CTM’s Sam Fisher was awarded the Special Recognition Award chosen by the Royal Pharmacy Society Board.

Our Primary Care Medicines Management Team was shortlisted twice for the Sustainability in Healthcare Award, for their work around ONS prescribing, and their respiratory work on de-prescribing and reducing carbon footprint.

The Community Pharmacy team was shortlisted for Primary Care Team of the Year for their development of the Pharmacist Independent Prescriber Peer Network.

Jointly with Cardiff and Vale UHB, CTM UHB’s Community Pharmacy team was also shortlisted in the Substance Dependency Category for our joint pilot to supply community pharmacy teams with sexual health testing kits and associated resources alongside our BBV service.

There were also a number of wins for our independent community pharmacy contractors within CTM.

Anna Matthews and Nanty Pharmacy won the Independent Community Pharmacy Practice of the Year Award and the Innovation in Service Delivery Award.

Gareth Hughes and Tynewydd Pharmacy won the Business Development of the Year Award.

Tynewydd Pharmacy’s technician Emma Williams won the Pharmacy Technician of the Year Award.

Avicenna Pharmacy Aberaman won the Management of Substance Dependency Category.

Hannah Wilton, Chief Pharmacist at CTM UHB said: “We were delighted to see so many of our pharmacy teams, colleagues and independent community pharmacy contractors shortlisted and named as winners at the 2024 Welsh Pharmacy Awards. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of CTM’s pharmacy staff and our partner organisations, and we are incredibly proud of all of them.”
