CTM UHB partners with 2WishCymru to host Hope After Loss Bereavement Event

On Monday 1 December Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTM UHB) partnered with 2wish Cymru and the Cwm Taf Morgannwg NHS Charity to host the second Hope After Loss bereavement event Conference at the Orbit Centre in Merthyr Tydfil.

The event, which was attended by over 50 people, included presentations by CTM UHB teams and departments, 2wishCymru and Eye to Eye Trauma Support. It also included a marketspace of popup stalls, hosted by CTM UHB teams and external organisations and partners, offering bereavement services and support.

Donna Morgan (Bereavement Clinical Lead, CTM UHB) said: “Bereavement affects everyone, and losing a loved one often leaves people feeling isolated. By hosting this event during Grief Awareness Week, we want to highlight the bereavement support, care and services being offered by CTM UHB, and our partners, and to give people the opportunity to share their stories and experiences.

“Building upon the success of the first Hope After Loss event, we aimed to use this event to create an informative, vibrant space that offered attendees resources, expertise and networking opportunities in a safe, inclusive and compassionate environment. The CTM teams and external partners had the opportunity to talk to families and to learn what they want in teams of bereavement services, and what they can currently access. Events like this will help us to improve both our service provision, and to strengthen our connections with our communities across CTM UHB.

Grief touches every life, and no one should face it alone. We want to ensure that everyone affected by bereavement across CTM UHB is able to access the support they need. By working together - health professionals, charities, and communities - we can ensure that bereavement support is inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of all families. Together, we can turn loss into a pathway of hope.”
