CTM’s Joint Care Programme is a programme specifically tailored to improve the mobility and function for people with knee or hip pain.
The aim is to improve patients’ mobility and joint function either to reduce the need for joint surgery or to aid with recovery post-surgery. The programme is delivered by trained exercise professionals and supported by CTM’s Public Health Team, along with the Public Health Dietitians.
The course has many benefits, such as encouraging a healthier lifestyle to reduce the risk to developing further health conditions, improving joint function and mobility, increasing nutrition knowledge, along with many other factors. It also gives participants the opportunity to socialise and talk with others with similar health conditions.
Richard, one of the Joint Care Programmes patients shared his experience and said: "The Joint Care Programme has really helped me to understand healthier ways of eating; the size of my plate has changed, and the exercise element has been amazing. The cookery sessions were enjoyable - the lentil soup was really nice and found it really filling. I am using lentils at home now as a new ingredient which I haven’t used before and they are also cheap to buy."
