Chief Nursing Officers' Award for Lifetime Achievement

A huge well done to Greg Padmore-Dix, our Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Patient Care who won the coveted Chief Nursing Officers’ Award for Lifetime Achievement at the recently held Nursing Times Awards 2023 in London. The awards bring together the nursing community to shine a light on the brightest talent in the profession and recognise those who make nursing innovative, patient-focused and inclusive.

The Award for Lifetime Achievement is jointly decided by the four UK Chief Nursing Officers and they described Greg as a “visible, compassionate and kind leader” who is “always willing to go above and beyond”.

The Chief Nursing Officer for Wales said: “I nominated Greg for the NHS Nursing Times Award because of his exceptional contribution to both holistic person-centred care and the Profession. He demonstrates the ability to transcend the expected leadership qualities, grappling with the most complex of nursing issues whilst remaining measured, humble and a consummate professional. Greg genuinely cares about people and the profession, helping to develop and support our future generation of nurse leaders. He has and continues to make a difference.”

Greg said: “My heartfelt thanks to Sue Tranka, Chief Nursing Officer for Wales for my nomination and to the other UK Chief Nursing Officers for bestowing this award upon me. I felt so humbled to have won this award which is testament to the incredible nurses and midwives I've had the privilege to work with over the last 37 years.”

Paul Mears, Chief Executive for Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board said: “I am delighted that Greg’s significant contribution to nursing leadership has been recognised by the Chief Nursing Officers across the UK. Greg is an experienced Executive Director of Nursing who has worked in several NHS organisations leading nursing and midwifery teams with enthusiasm, compassion and dedication.

“In his time at CTM, Greg has overseen the significant improvement in our midwifery and neo-natal services as well as providing visible and enthusiastic leadership to our nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers. Greg has supported a number of national initiatives in nursing and has in the past year become the Deputy Chief Executive, recognising his significant experience and his contribution to the board of the organisation. On a personal level I am pleased that Greg’s contribution as a nurse leader has been nationally recognised by this prestigious award.”
