We are seeing a worrying rise in the number of measles cases in the UK, with a recent outbreak in the South Wales region. Measles is a highly infectious disease, which can only be controlled by vaccination. Therefore, we are urging all parents and guardians of school aged children to ensure your child has received two doses of the MMR vaccine.
If you are unsure as to whether your child is fully vaccinated, please check your child’s Red Book in the first instance, where their vaccination history will be detailed. If you are still unable to determine whether your child has received two doses of the MMR vaccine, please contact your GP practice who will be able to advise you.
If your child has not received a full course of two vaccines, a series of catch up opportunities are currently being planned via schools, and our Community Vaccination Centre's and GP practices. This page will be updated with further details in due course, but if you have any queries regarding the vaccine in the meantime, please visit our frequently asked questions here.
