Hospital Visiting Guidance

entrances of hospital sites

We are in the final stages of updating our visiting policy - this page will be updated as soon as it is available.

If you are feeling unwell, including symptoms such as a cough, cold, diarrhoea, vomiting, or any other signs of infection, please do not visit the hospital.

Please remember to wash your hands, get vaccinated if you are eligible, and stay home if you are feeling unwell.

We understand how important it is for patients to stay connected with the people who matter to them and visiting forms an essential part of their care.

Visitors are welcome during our core visiting hours 11:00am - 08:00pm Visits outside these times may be permitted in special circumstances as agreed with the Ward Manager or Nurse in Charge.

Each patient may receive up to two visitors per visit which can be family members or others who are important to the patient. To support patient rest and recovery, visits should last no longer than 2 hours.

Visiting Information for Speciality Areas

Maternity, Neonates, Children's Ward, Critical Care Units and Palliative Care Units have alternative visiting arrangements, which can be found by clicking here.

Accompanying Patients

Emergency Departments

Our Emergency Departments, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Surgical Assessment Units (SAU) are very busy environments. Whenever possible, we ask patients to attend alone or to bring only one accompanying person if support is needed.

Outpatients Appointments

If you are attending an Outpatient Appointment, whenever possible, we ask you to bring only one accompanying person if support is needed.

Day Surgery Unit

Visiting is not permitted in day case or assessment areas where the patient will be staying less than 24 hours, except for carers or in special circumstances. If you need additional support, please speak with a member of staff.

Collecting Patients on Discharge

For those collecting patients on discharge from hospital, please discuss discharge arrangements directly with the ward team. Wherever possible, we aim to discharge patients by 11:00am, and we appreciate your help in making arrangements to collect the patient before this time.
