Urgent eye problems

If you have any concerns about your eyes, you should contact your local optometrist rather than your GP.

Under the WGOS, examinations for urgent eye problems are free for patients and your optometrist will be able to advise if you are eligible for this.

As part of an examination, the optometrist will carefully examine your eyes to see if anything is wrong. The tests and equipment they use will depend on what you tell them and what they find, and they may take longer than a routine eye test.
