What is Badger Notes?
The Badger Notes app gives you safe and secure access to your maternity records anytime, from your phone or tablet. You can easily check your appointments, see your test results, and read notes from your care team whenever it suits you.
It also helps you feel more involved in your care. You can update your personal details, share your birth preferences, and leave feedback, all in one place — without needing to keep track of paper notes.
What are the key features of the system?
- Real-time access to information: You can view your maternity notes, appointment dates, and scan results immediately after they are entered by midwives or other health care professionals caring for you.
- Personalised Care Planning: You can add information such as allergies, birth preferences, and personal notes directly into your record. Health professionals can share important information with you, based on your needs during the pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.
- Enhanced communication: Allows for better engagement with your care teams and can facilitate sending feedback about appointments and care experiences.
- Helpful features: The app provides a week-by-week overview of pregnancy, insights into baby development, and can record personal diary entries.

What are the benefits?
- Information can be shared with you directly from the maternity system
- Records can be easily updated at each maternity visit or appointment
- Midwives do not have to duplicate information onto paper handheld notes
- Only those with the correct login details are able to access the notes.
- You can add information regarding:
- Yourself, such as your occupation and any allergies. This can be discussed with your midwife at your booking appointment
- Your plans and preferences for birth
- Feedback regarding your antenatal care, labour and birth experiences.
How secure is Badger Notes?
All information is held securely and cannot be accessed without the correct login details (similar to internet banking).
Badger Notes is powered by BadgerNet, the same secure platform used by the healthcare professionals involved in your maternity care.
How can I download and set up Badger Notes?
You can download the Badger Notes app from the App Store or Google Play, or visit www.badgernotes.net.
Create your account using your email address and a passphrase given to you by your midwife. Once registered, you’ll receive a verification code via text. Enter the code and set up your unique password.
You can update your login details anytime using the profile menu. Midwives cannot change your details once you’re logged in.
If you are using a mobile app you will be asked to create a PIN code for quick access to the app when logged in.
I don’t have access to a phone / digital device, what happens now?
If you are unable to access your notes via a phone or digital device, then please speak to your midwife / health care professional who will ensure you are supported with paper notes.
Does having the Badger Notes app mean I no longer carry any paper notes?
There may be some instances in which we ask you to carry a small amount of paper within a file but this will be discussed with you by the team caring for you.
