Royal Glamorgan Hospital - Critical Care/ITU

Critical Care Bed Contact Number:
01443 443522

General Information:
Our main number is listed above but please be aware that there sometimes may be a delay in answering due to clinical needs. Please can families arrange a single point of contact as multiple calls can take us away from your loved one several times a day.

Visiting Times:
Open visiting on Critical Care between 12:00-16:00 and 17:00-19:00.
Open visiting on the High Dependency Unit (HDU) between 14:00-16:00 and 17:00-19:00.
Two people to a bed visiting at any one time. No need to book an appointment.

Can Children Visit?
The visiting of children may not always be appropriate and is at the discretion of the nurse in charge. The child’s age, your loved one’s condition and the child’s susceptibility to infection must be taken into account.

At the Bedside:
Talk to and touch your relative. Talk about all kinds of things. Read a newspaper or book to them as holding a one-way conversation can feel awkward. Patients rarely recall memories following sedation, but we always assume they can hear us.

Comfort and Facilities:

Visitor's Room
We have a visitor room available to provide comfort while you are waiting and privacy while you are talking to doctors. This can be found at the end of the Critical Care Unit corridor, opposite the High Dependency Unit.

Toilet
There is a visitor’s toilet in the visitor’s room. Please ask a member of staff if you have any questions.
